Image: Our thoughts are with the family of Gregory Schmidt, who recently passed away (March 25, 1947 – November 18, 2020). Gregory is survived by his wife and our colleague, Brigitte Bruns, along with his three sons and two sisters. Gregory spent over 35 years at UGA engaged in pioneering work to understand photosynthesis as well as interdisciplinary work on the symbiotic relationship between reef-forming corals and algae. These efforts resulted in millions of dollars of grant funding and ca. 100 research publications. He was a valued colleague, and his presence will be missed. Obituary
