Monday, February 28 2022, 4pm Zoom (email jessica.hudgins@uga.edu for the link) Panel discussion and Q&A: Grad School Associate Dean Anne Shaffer, the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO) Director Qiana Wilson, and the Ombudsperson for students Charisse Harper will host a panel to help you understand who the EOO and Ombuds are and how they can help you as graduate students. The panelists will explain their roles here at UGA, what the EOO office does, and what the unique role of an Ombudsperson is at the university. The panelists will then answer questions/issues on how they can support you and your fellow graduate students. Never heard of EOO or Ombuds? The University of Georgia has an active Ombudsperson program overseen by the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO). "The University of Georgia Ombudspersons are designated individuals who serve as independent, neutral, and informal resources for UGA students, faculty, and staff. Rather than serving as advocates for individual members of the University community, these individuals are advocates for fairness, and they function as a source of information and referral. They assist, to the extent possible, in informally resolving concerns brought to their attention. They serve as third-party information providers who remain neutral while assisting individuals in having their concerns addressed through appropriate channels, including those related to discrimination and harassment."
