Image: Alumnus Christopher Topp ( 2009, Dawe Lab) now runs a lab at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, a not-for-profit plant research institute located in Saint Louis, MO. His work focuses on roots, the "hidden-half" of plants. They use an array of lab and field based phenotyping approaches to measure root growth, architecture, and response to the environment. Ultimately they would like to identify the genetic basis of root traits to help develop more robust and sustainable crop plants in a changing environment.
