Image: We are thrilled to announce two well-deserved awards presented to Max Barnhart and Yen-Ho Chen from the Department of Plant Biology. Max Barnhart has been honored with the Wilbur Duncan Award for Outstanding Graduate Student, a recognition of his significant contributions to research, teaching, and service within the Department. The award includes a $1,000 prize, underscoring the value placed on Max's dedication and impact. Max is completing his PhD under the guidance of Dr. John Burke. Equally deserving is Yen-Ho Chen, who has been awarded the Plant Biology Graduate Student Paper-of-the-Year Award for his publication titled "Multiplex Editing of the Nucleoredoxin1 Tandem Array in Poplar: From Small Indels to Translocations and Complex Inversions" published in The CRISPR Journal and featured as the cover story! The full manuscript is available here. This accolade highlights Yen-Ho's emphasis on high-quality and impactful research. Yen-Ho recently graduated with his PhD under the advisement of Dr. CJ Tsai.
