PBIO Experiences Solar Eclipse

Image:
PBIO students, faculty, and staff viewing the eclipse

On Monday, students, faculty, and staff from the Plant Biology Department gathered outside the Miller Plant Sciences Building to witness the highly anticipated solar eclipse. Ethan Baldwin, a PhD candidate in the Leebens-Mack lab, brought out his telescope for everyone to safely view the eclipse close up. Although Athens experienced an approximately 85% eclipse, not reaching totality, observers still noticed a significant darkening of the sky and a slight drop in temperature. We're already looking forward to the next partial eclipse in Athens on January 28th, 2028!
